Hi there! I’m Joanna, founder of High Five Animal Training, and I’m thrilled you’re taking action to address your furry family member’s behavior.
My Goal: Building bonds through effective communication & compassionate behavioral support
Since starting my journey in animal behavior, first in Kuala Lumpur caring for abandoned dogs & cats, I’ve made it my mission to show pet parents just how easy it can be to solve behavior issues with the right combination of environment, detailed training plan, and guidance from a trained & certified professional.
As a member of IAABC, Pet Professionals Guild, the Shock Free Coalition, and the Fear Free movement, I’m dedicated to providing Houston area dog and cat parents with the most up-to-date, effective, scientifically-valid, and compassionate behavior and training techniques available. At High Five Animal Training we believe dogs, cats, & their owners thrive by teaching animals to “behave” because they know how and want to, not out of fear of punishment.

Meet Kicia
“Kitty” in Polish, our 18-year-old Kicia was found and rescued on a beach in Dubai. A well-traveled cat, Kicia has moved from one continent to another, all while enjoying sun baths, cat naps, and Snack Party Mix. When she’s up for a good challenge, Kicia enjoys solving dog puzzles and chasing lizards.
Meet Fuji
Our Fuji is a sharp and smart, food-obsessed rescue dog and a Canine Good Citizen who was born in a pack at a cemetery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One day, she cleverly followed a vet to a nearby SPCA to be taken in. Though she was initially a (failed) foster pet with us, we simply couldn’t part with Fuji, and she became a part of our family permanently. Fuji is also a recovering reactive dog herself and continually reminds me of the experience so many of my clients have.
Now that you’ve met my pets, I can’t wait to meet yours and help you and your dog or cat become closer than ever before.
